GC: Chris, what is the difference between the Flora 20-14, Flora 50-14 and 200-14?
CB: The Innate Response Flora products are named for the CFU (amount of probiotic, beneficial bacteria, flora) in each formula before the dash followed by the amount of different strains of flora. For instance, 20-14 is 20 billion per capsule of 14 different strains; 50-14 is 50 billion per capsule of 14 different strains; and 200-14 is 200 billion per capsule of 14 different strains.
There are more than a dozen strains of flora in a healthy gut, yet, the vast majority of all probiotic supplements have less than a dozen strains.
On the other end of the spectrum are a few companies that go with the “everything but the kitchen sink” thinking with dozens of differing strains. That ends up with not enough of the most important ones to make as much of a difference.
It is also important to note that these are 14 non-competing strains. That is very important as too often companies put strains together that don’t work well together.
GC: How would someone know which version or option is best for them and what do you recommend?
CB: The Flora 20-14 is a good maintenance formula — 1 or 2 daily first thing in the morning upon waking — for those who desire (or need) a daily probiotic. It may also be used as a periodic “reboot” of the gut such as use for a month every 6 or 12 months.
The Flora 50-14 is for those with more serious gut issues such as those with IBS, ciliary or other intestinal issues.
The Flora 200-14 is for a “loading dose” for those who have used antibiotics and need to restore gut integrity. It is a single capsule with 200 billion flora so it is the same as though one took 10 of the 20-14. There are only 7 capsules in a bottle for once daily use — again first thing in the morning upon waking — for one week. It is also highly recommended for those with chronic conditions in order to maximize the utilization of the nutrient supplements being used for healing.
Personally, I have seen often hastened and heightened results with normally successful protocols for chronic conditions when the following protocol is utilized.
Week 1: 1 Flora 200-14 first thing in the morning upon awaking
Weeks 2 and 3: 2 Flora 50-14 first thing in the morning upon awaking
Weeks 4 and 5: 1 Flora 50-14 first thing in the morning upon awaking
Following month: 2 Flora 20-14 first thing in the morning upon awaking
Thereafter: 1 or 2 Flora 20-14 first thing in the morning upon awaking
GC: Do you recommend daily use long term or do you suggest that these probiotics be cycled and used during a crisis and then stopped?
CB: Everyone should at least take a month of probiotics every 6 or 12 months just to maintain heightened gut health.
Daily use on a regular basis is recommended for those in special circumstances such as those who have gut and intestinal irritations/issues as mentioned previously. This also includes the autistic as gut dysbiosis is a part of autism. The autistic in my experience show noticeable improvements with daily use of a quality probiotic first thing every morning.
Also, any with serious health issues will benefit from daily use of a high-quality probiotic.
GC: Can you explain the dollar for dollar comparison and why the 50-14 is actually a better value that the 20-14?
CB: People who take the 20-14 usually find their best results taking 2 capsules each morning. One of the 50-14 capsules provides 10 billion more flora than 2 of the 20-14 and costs less! I would also add that those who switch from other brands of flora to Innate Response Flora in almost every case have a noticeable improvement in their results. The cost is almost always a better value as well when considering the amount of total available probiotics and strains in comparison.
GC: What kind of success have you seen with clients you work with?
CB: For starters, those with digestive issues (gas, bloating, etc.) find their issues diminishing and even eliminated entirely.
Bowel issues are normalized. For instance, those with constipation open up while those with diarrhea find quick relief and then experience normal bowel activity.
Relief from intestinal issues is obtained with IBS, ciliary sufferers, Crohn’s and other intestinal irritations.
My successful nutritional protocols for health restoration with chronic health issues speed up notably including for conditions such as Lyme’s disease and cancers.
